Holiday Horror Guide #8–To All a Good Night

The 1980 slasher TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT doesn’t stray too far from the classic stalk-and-slice formula, delivering a predictable but satisfying chiller. Reminiscent of better-known films like BLACK CHRISTMAS and PROM NIGHT, the movie takes place during Christmas break at a well-to-do finishing school where the remaining coeds are planning a big party–only to have the festivities interrupted by a knife-wielding killer in a Santa suit.

Starring Jennifer Runyan (perhaps best known as Bill Murray’s comely test subject in GHOSTBUSTERS) and directed by THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT’s David Hess, TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT is unapologetically crowd-pleasing fare that is sure to delight ’80s slasher devotees. Featuring plenty of creative kills–death by propeller, anyone?–it’s a tough picture to track down, but vigilant viewers will no doubt feel rewarded.
